Minutes of the meeting of 8/15/16
Meeting Opened at: 9am
Select Board Members Present: Steve Weisz and Carol Edelman
Also in attendance: Emily Johnson, Michael Germain, Hy Rosen, Pat Salomon, Richard Jaffe, Greg Carnese, Jerry Clarin, Ed Mandlebaum, Bob Lazzarini, Eoin Higgins
Miscellaneous Items Reviewed:
1. Warrants were signed.
2. Minutes from 8/8 & 8/10/16 were approved.
3. Administrative Assistant’s weekly report was reviewed. Time off request was approved.
4. Residents interested in the Lake Garfield Working Group agenda item were present. Steve explained that to date we have received only one person interested in being a part of the group so this item will be delayed until we receive more letters of interest.
5. Residents present were concerned about how to register to vote with the absence of a Town Clerk.
6. Some present believe that town counsel was incorrect when stating that we could place a ban on herbicides specifically on the lake when Lake Garfield is a great pond.
7. Debbie Mielke submitted a letter declining the appointment to the office of Town Clerk for personal reasons. The Board will reach out to the state, our local reps and surrounding towns to try and find an immediate interim replacement.
8. Bob Lazzarini came in with an update on the maps Steve is looking for and asked for an update on space to relocate some boxes they have. Steve reported that there is space in the records room and he will work with Bob this week on moving them in there.
9. The Board signed the requested letter for Terry Walker necessary for her retirement board.
10. The Board inquired why there wasn’t a weekly police report submitted and felt that one should be submitted regardless of if the Chief is on vacation or not.
11. There was concern about the missing check for the fire truck.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 10am
